Job Description:

The role:

The Team Lead, Distribution is an operational role supporting the North America Logistics Operation.  The primary function is to assist in the management of outsourced 3PL Logistics & Transportation Operations related to this site. The position will lead a team of logistics specialists supervising inbound/outbound operations, inventory control, value added services, order-fulfillment and retailer compliance. The Team Lead, Distribution Lead will be responsible for managing and executing internal customer transportation needs within requirements and timelines.  This role will also be responsible for communicating the overall health of the 3PL operation and/or Non-Retail Transportation status via reporting tools that will be presented periodically to senior management and shared across the business.

What can we expect from you:

  • Provide leadership to Logistics Specialists supporting outsourced 3PL operations for Distribution and/or Transportation.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly KPI reporting regarding specific site to supply chain, sales or customer.
  • Distribution Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain counterparts in Demand Planning, Supply Planning and Order Management to execute orders to customer requirements for various distribution channels.  Ensuring orders are leaving the DC on time and in full.
    • Lead the management of the 3PL open order book, inventory control, value added services process and warehouse operational functions.  High level of service is critically important with an interest in ensuring gaps are quickly addressed and inventory is highly managed and monitored for accuracy.
    • Conduct 3PL daily/weekly/monthly scorecard review and identify opportunities to improve warehouse operations.  Key areas of review: collect customer pickup timeliness, timely and accurate order routing, timely departure from DC.
    • Ensure all internal control processes are met for month-end requirements with DC.
  • Transportation Responsibilities
    • Support SM’s global transportation network for ocean, air, non-commercial and intercompany/trans-border product movement.  Ensuring all product containers are being received at specific DC promptly from port and within 24 of arrival at DC.
    • Service leads for SM’s internal customers in Sales, Supply Chain, Trade Marketing and other in transportation needs. Turning around requests promptly.
    • Provide direction to Logistics Specialists in managing, monitoring and reconciling inbound/intercompany and trans-border transportation operations between 3PLs and freight forwarders.
    • Partner with other D&T Lead to improve service level to SM Retail Customer base.

You should apply if you have the following:

  • BS/BA in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or equivalent experience.
  • Experienced in global transportation/freight forwarder management best practices.
  • Experienced in managing 3PL’s (warehousing, distribution and inventory control).
  • Strong skills in a WMS, ERP, Microsoft Office and Excel is required
  • Experience in SAP is beneficial
