Job Description:

1.0 General:

The Supply Planner has full ownership of their respective brands and inventory and is responsible for operational execution as well as leading initiatives to drive cost and/or service improvements.  This role requires a solid understanding of supply chain best practices with emphasis on transportation, inventory planning and procurement. Advanced analytics are required to support and drive ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. 

Working closely with Finance, Logistics and Customer Service, Demand Planning, Global Business Units (GBU), and Asia Program Managers, this role is accountable for best-in-class customer service levels, optimized stock levels, and delivery of products on-time and in-full, while minimizing non-quality costs.  The position utilizes rigorous analysis on inventory levels and the demand plan to enable the business to efficiently deliver on customer demand, drive efficiency in the supply chain and enable optimum on-shelf availability.

This role reports to the Supply Planning Manager and is part of the Global Operations Team.


2.0 Specific Responsibilities:

Main Skills:

  • Full ownership over assigned brands and items
  • Drive Best-in-Class Customer Service

  • Track and report KPI’s and ensure metric alignment with customers
  • Supply & Replenishment activities which include:
    • Evaluating daily & weekly production schedules generated by Factory Planners and Asia Program Managers to ensure sufficient supply while maximizing inventory turns 
    • Intimate understanding and attention to production rates, buy schedules, frequency and sequencing, minimum order quantities, site demonstrated capacity, scheduling lead times, in-transit and hold criteria
    • Performance monitoring and management of 3rd party vendors and affiliate plants including 3rd party adherence to Spin Master production policy, process, and SOP
    • Balance market demand with efficient asset utilization while considering impact to total cost.
    • Material management to maximize quality performance, minimize excess and obsolescence
  • Work closely with Logistics and Order Management Team:
    • Material movement from supplier into warehouse and/or factory, stock transfers from DC to DC
    • 3rd Party communication & monitoring of execution to meet on-time targets
  • Coordinate new product and end of life cycle planning with the Brand Management & Sales Team
  • Prepare materials to support the Supply Agreement Meeting (SAM) step as part of S&OP
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners, Vendors and the Asia Planning team to reduce excess of raw material inventory
  • Collaborate with International and Domestic Sales Team to reduce/eliminate excess and obsolete finished goods inventory
  • Collaborate with Order Management Team to resolve customer service related issues for respective brands to maximize service
  • Resolve shortage situations by proactively managing and monitoring inventory levels for assigned materials and material types.
  • Raising potential short or long term inventory issues to key stakeholders in weekly constraint review meetings
  • Other Skills:
  • This role requires excellent communication and analytical skills as well as the ability to deal with significant amount of data and ambiguity.

3.0 Reporting Lines

     Varying by position

4.0 Required Skill Set:

  •  Cross-functional experience in order management is an asset
  • Experience in CPG, fashion or related industry experience as well as exposure to S&OP is an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office tools-Advanced Excel Skills; forecasting or supply planning applications
  • Planning system experience (Lean TMS, JDA, SAP, BI or other ERP experience)
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

5.0 Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Undergraduate Degree - business, supply chain, finance, engineering, mathematics, economics background
  • APICS designation is an asset
  • 3 – 5 years related experience in Supply Planning/Procurement/Demand Planning/Logistics/Finance
