Job Title:             Sourcing Data Engineer

Reporting to:     SVP of Operations & Sourcing

Location:             Toronto, Ontario

Job Overview:

The Sourcing Data Engineer is a member of the Sourcing team, reporting to the SVP of Operations & Sourcing. In this role, the Sourcing Data Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of reporting mechanisms and uses statistical and analytical tools to bring clarity to Spin Master’s Sourcing Department. The Sourcing Data Engineer will continuously look for ways to improve effectiveness of the tools utilized by the Sourcing team, to support the business strategy and goals.

Job Responsibilities:

Spend Coverage Reporting (Direct & Indirect Spend Reports)

  • Act as the subject matter expert around all spend analysis reporting process and tools. Assist in the measure departmental effectiveness
  • Cleanse, normalize, categorize and cross-reference large files of raw spend data, originating from multiple sources, to use in reporting, auditing and strategy development
  • Own and manage the historical spend database ensuring accuracy, completeness, and the availability of data
  • Update and analyze the Spend Coverage Report to provide data driven strategic insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with members of the Sourcing team to ensure that the corporate Sourcing spend coverage goals are met
  • Collect, evaluate, and analyze data regarding cost and availability of potential vendors, materials, and services.
  • Provide research and input into financial aspects of sourcing efforts including material analysis, labor analysis, and rate analysis in establishing cost targets, goals, and recommendations.
  • Analyze data and prepare specific deliverables (reports, graphs) based on data.
  • Identify and recommend cost savings opportunities through data analysis 

Master Vendor File Management

  • Actively own and manage the list of approved vendors by reviewing contracts, pricing agreements, spend data and by working with other Sourcing team and business unit members to understand which vendors are approved
  • Create & Manage the Master Vendor file
  • Ensure that all vendors are valid and approved
  • Vendor information: Company Name, Address, DUNS#, Tel#,
  • Payment Terms.
  • Ensure that the Master Vendor Management Policy is being followed. Eg. approval of vendors, approval authority matrix, contract approval review controls and any other policy controls
  • Conduct a Vendor Risk Assessment: Financials, Business Health, Geographic, Dependency, Compliance and Reputational

Job Requirements

Project Reporting

  • Own and update the Productivity Tracker. Assist Sourcing teams to ensure that is up to date.
  • Create a more efficient Productivity Tracker, which will fit both Sourcing Teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project tracker report is accurate, updates are made, and the information is distributed monthly
  • The Productivity Tracker includes a comprehensive list of active and completed projects that the Sourcing team is responsible for. Work closely with the Sourcing team to ensure all fields related to each project (such as project owner, business unit owner, category, spend and savings figures, and comments from each project owner) are accurate, and the report is Ready for monthly OPEX meetings
  • Ensure that the savings reporting field in each project is accurate and has gone through the approval process prior to posting as “Confirmed” 

Analytical Support

  • Provide analytical support to the Sourcing team as needed which may include:
  • Spend data analysis – utilize spend data to identify historical trends and/or predict future trends.
  • Market analysis – perform market analysis comparing spend trends with published indices to identify opportunities
  • Sourcing analysis – assist in consolidating, reviewing, validating, and performing analytics for sourcing events
  • General analytical support – perform analysis as needed and required by the business to support Sourcing or business functions
  • Provide strategic data analysis insights to drive Sourcing and/or company strategy decisions
  • Continuous Improvement

 Process Improvement

  • Lead implementation of process and system enhancements to improve process efficiency. Eg. Conduct Kaizens: utilizing PDCA, 5Whys, value stream, eliminating MUDA
  • Analyze business trends and make recommendations for improvement and continuous 

Other

  • 10% to 20% Travel may be required
