In this exciting, dynamic role, you will be providing key consumer insights by designing, managing and conducting all different types of research!


This is an internal role servicing all LA-based GBUS spearheading all Consumer Insight initiatives. Successful applicant will be expected to build annual research plans working with heads of Marketing, Design, Entertainment, Licensing, Acquisitions, Creative Services, Digital Marketing, etc. This position reports to the Senior Director, Consumer Insights and is expected to work collaboratively within and outside of team to offer best in class global solutions. In addition to the above, specific expectations include:

  • Perform role of internal Insight expert and voice of the consumer
  • Plan and implement research programs that support the GBU in their strategic initiatives, product development, and marketing programs
  • Conduct research analysis to identify patterns of behavior and emotion to develop fresh insights and to separate out what is strategically important
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of play labs and other child-facing qualitative research opportunities
  • Present and champion key insights, findings, and ideas
  • Manage vendor relationships, providing RFPS, briefs, and negotiating work terms, costs and outcomes
  • Participate in internal brainstorming for best in class methodology solutions
  • Stays abreast of consumer, shopper, retail, market trends as well as marketing strategies
  • Attend a variety of meetings as the “voice of the consumer” being confident in your body of knowledge, methodological recommendations and understandings of the larger picture  

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Anthropology, Consumer Insight, Advertising or related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in primary market research, employing a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience provided full service research; from proposal, implementation, analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrate passion, curiosity and a strong interest in understanding human behavior, especially that of children and the family dynamic
  • Strong self awareness and self confidence to work in a fast paced, fun and ambitious environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Direct experience in the following fields would be an asset: agency, CPG, Children’s toy or entertainment, Research supplier
  • Must have the flexibility and willingness to travel within North America on a regular basis (15% travel should be expected)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in the toy industry, consultancy, advertising agency and/or organizations in marketing and/or consulting roles
