Job Description:

The Sr. Product Planner will be responsible for portfolio product planning based upon the GBU’s they are assigned to. Spin Master is defining product planning as generating an 18-24 month demand plan at a brand / regional / country / sales channel level, translating that demand plan to a supply plan, working closely with GBU and Sales Leadership to understand strategies impacting the supply plan, monitoring and planning against projected inventory within sales channels, ensuring alignment on product launch dates and impact to product availability, and managing the allocation process by comparing Retailer requested quantities to the product plan. Ultimately all activities should deliver a plan that generates the projected revenue while balancing service and costs across the supply chain.

  • Volume Forecasting – Incumbent is expected to gain alignment between the Sales projected volume (Bottom Up) and Marketing projected (Top Down) to generate Consensus Demand, passed to Supply Planning for constraint and allocation review. In addition, the Sr. Product Planner should be knowledgeable about the competitive landscape
  • Supply Requirements – Once Demand Consensus is obtained, pass the plan through the supply modeling to determine net requirements. This includes using ABC stratification to prioritize changes, leveraging SAP master data to drop STO’s with the correct rounding, and determining the correct Safety Stock strategy. Manage exceptions within SAP.
  • Excess & Obsolete Inventory – Three-fold approach. First, work with Sales / Brand teams to move generated inventory. Second, work on Substituting on hand Inventory for FOB or DOM orders. Third, work on improving the demand signals to ensure we eliminate E&O upfront. This role is also responsible for EME inventory in Production. EME inventory is inventory we have stranded at a supplier because an order was cancelled.
  • S&OP – Leverage updated S&OP Process to generate Product Plans. Lead GBU/Brand Regional Pre-Consensus demand/supply reviews to develop an agreed to 18-24 month unconstrained demand plan with detailed risk & opportunities.
  • Channel POS & Inventory – Key component of the role is to monitor, analyze, and provide insights to POS and Inventory. The Incumber should be working cross functionally with Market Analytics, Product Planning, Retail Merchandizers, and various accredited data sources. Leverage the product knowledge to make quicker decisions on both Supply and Demand – ultimately leading to a reduction in reducing Working Capital and using Labour Constraints effectively.
  • Reporting – Demonstrate the ability to generate reports (standard and ad-hoc) as required for business leaders to make decisions. Reporting should be made within Spin Master’s standard suite of SAP tools.
  • Process & Data Improvement – Expected to work in cross-functional teams to improve both processes and master data. Projects will be assigned on an as needed basis and will align with other work responsibilities.
