Job Description

Based in Bratislava/Slovakia reporting to VP, Operations Finance based in Toronto/Canada, the Senior Manager, Operations Finance, Europe, is a key member of the global Finance Team. The main objective of this role is to support and build Spin Master’s European business and global finance capability in Europe.

Oversight to Transactional Functions of all European Entities:

Procure to Pay: 

  • Assist with management and analysis of costs for Bratislava office expenses
  • Ensure that Service Level Agreements are entered into with vendors/service providers
  • Identify, review and analyze productivity savings vs prior year, budget and forecast
  • Ensure that Global Procure to Pay Policies are complied with and supporting Key Performance Indicators are developed and reported

Inventory Accounting:

  • Complete month end close process with respect to inventory and COGS including, profit in inventory calculation, inventory reserves and gross margin
  • Review and analyze standard costing models and variances in conjunction with the FP&A and Operations teams on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Perform variance analysis vs. prior year, budget and forecast on COGS, warehousing and inventory monthly in conjunction with the global FP&A and Operations teams
  • Lead annual European Inventory counts from a Finance Perspective
  • Oversee all financial aspects of the importation and distribution of finished goods into Europe

 Treasury/Tax 

  • Working with the Corporate Treasury, Tax and FP&A Teams, and local management, assist with the preparation of annual budget, weekly cash flow projections and expense forecasts. Assist where required with the analysis and implementation of transfer pricing policies

 

Business Support 

  • Provide analytical insight/support to Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement & IT teams
  • Assist with the implementation of operational projects eg new warehouses, SAP upgrades and new implementations
  • Support the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Compliance to analyze and communicate European business performance.
  • Support the Development of a monthly Shared Service operation scorecard for management and measure the performance of the group using Key Performance Indicators as benchmarked against annual goals and objectives
  • Work closely with the Costing Manager, Meccano to analze Meccano manufacturing performance
  • Collaborate with all European businesses and the Corporate Office to identify opportunities for scope expansion and process improvement, then review, incorporate, and monitor changes in current operations
  • Assist with the planning, analysis and implementation of geographic expansion projects in Europe eg new offices, acquisition integration etc
  • Support the preparation of the budget for the Shared Service operation in Bratislava

 

Shared Services in Europe: 

  • Support the sustainment and optimization of Shared Services in Europe
  • Support Financial Shared Services performance measurement and reporting process across all teams and processes
  • Assist with the achievement of process efficiencies

 

Administrative Matters

  • Manage and coach direct reports (first line managers) to align to Company objectives
  • Ensure all Spin Master policies with respect to inventory and cost of goods sold are documented and are being applied in consistent manner across European Operations.
  • Support the CFO, Global Finance Team and VP, Operations Finance with ad hoc analysis, requests as needed.
  • Ensure that all members of the team have up-to-date Job Descriptions, Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Bound (“SMART”) Objectives and their performance is evaluated on an annual basis
  • Develop and implement activities for talent management together with the responsible HR Director
  • Assisting with tracking expenditures to budget and report both variances and cost savings opportunities to management.
  • Submit monthly, quarterly and annual financial information per group financial reporting calendar.
  • Work together with local management to ensure that controllable financial metrics are tracked to maintain within target.
  • Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure to accomplish the function’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide professional leadership necessary to build and maintain a “best practices”.
  • Spend time building a clear understanding of the capabilities and potential of the whole team.
  • Bring promising individuals to the attention of other executives, including identifying specific capabilities and growth potential.
  • Use existing institutional programs to support employee career growth.

 

Job Requirements

Required Skill Set:

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, detail oriented, work independently and a self-starter
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Staff management experience
  • Experience working with SAP and Business Intelligence to a high level
  • Understanding of Accounting processes
  • Ability to work on more projects simultaneously

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree in the Economic field preferred
  • Experience in project, transition and change management
  • 3+ years experience in a shared services environment
