The Job:

The Senior Manager, Global Communications, contributes to Spin Master’s success by developing and executing strategic communication programs to enhance Spin Master Corp. and Spin Master’s portfolio of brands’ reputation with internal/external stakeholders and drive awareness while delivering on the company’s business objectives. You will help drive Spin Master’s news agenda and business narrative strategy to build and protect the Company’s reputation.

This role drives innovative and multi-channel communications strategies that are relevant and compelling to external audiences, provides strategic and creative communications counsel to all levels of the organization, including senior leaders and cross-functional teams and leads an agency to execute and implement communications strategies and plans. You will model and acts in accordance with Spin Master’s guiding principles. This position is based at Spin Master’s global headquarters in Toronto and reports directly to the Vice President, Marketing Communications.

What we can expect from you:

  • You will build trust in the Spin Master brand and Spin Master’s portfolio of brands, positioning the company in accordance with the Company’s vision and mission
  • You'll ensure message consistency and alignment with Spin Master’s overall communications program and strategic direction
  • Management of the PR agency that assists in building / executing Company and Brand PR programs and delivering results on time and on budget that help drive the company’s success
  • You'll work with internal Brand Marketing teammates and external PR agency to develop and execute comprehensive Brand PR programs that increase consumer awareness, stimulate product trials, and drive revenue growth products in the company’s portfolio, as well as new product introductions
  • Engagement in effective media relations by building relationships with key media outlets / reporters
  • You'll Identify opportunities to garner positive media coverage and work with PR agency to plan, pitch and target media outlets / reporters
  • You'll supervise press releases for master brand, brand and franchise announcements, prepare company spokespeople for media interviews, represent company at select media events, develop press releases, talking points and media lists as needed, cultivate strong working relationships with internal business partners across the company, as well as Corporate Communications teammates based Internationally, monitor issues that may impact the company and execute proactive and reactive plans for issue management...busy enough for you?

  • Corporate communications experience in positions of increasing responsibility at a global consumer-focused company or a global public relations agency 5 years
  • Media relations experience 5-7 years
  • Relationship management with external agencies, vendors and business partners 5-7 years
  • Leading teams or agencies 3-5years
  • Agency experience is an asset
  • Toy experience is an asset
