The Role:

This position is well suited for someone who Is curious, insightful and enjoys analytical work with "a thirst for knowledge". Attention to detail, strong numeracy and written skills are a must. This individual has a learning mindset and constantly challenges themselves to utilize new techniques and methodologies to understand and stay ahead of our changing consumer. This leader is on the cutting edge of current approaches in the research and insights. He or she is a builder, comfortable creating new insights solutions where they don’t already exist. The leader thrives in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and possesses excellent organizational, interpretive and communication skills. He or she must possess strong leadership and networking skills with a strong interest In collaboration and mentorship.

 

This role requires a leader who has the technical expertise in research & insights - but more importantly the ability to influence through the power of Insights. A proven thought leader who can think strategically and understands the big picture - while clearly presenting and articulating the important facts that will have impact and Influence.

 

The Senior Director, Research & Insights is accountable to drive and aid in the execution of Spin Master's strategic plans from start to finish by working in partnership with senior leadership to ensure Spin business strategies are fully Informed and rooted in fact based customer insights and trends.

 

What we can expect from you:

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive integrated insights strategy using a full range of research and analytics that supports the business plan and assists in developing both short- and long-term plans.
  • Identify, integrate and communicate key customer insights, trends and key performance metrics reporting into each division leveraging internal and syndicated tracking services.
  • Develop new tools and methodologies to understand our changing consumer.
  • Interact, lead and Influence the functional areas to maximize the achievement of business goals by providing a 360 view of the customer and total business while developing a standardized reporting scorecard against key consumer and market share metrics to drive action.
  • Identify critical information gaps based on continuous needs assessments and ensure gaps are filled across the business with best-practice insights and measurement approaches.
  • Lead the development of custom shopper insights research through existing research/analytics, new primary research, or vendor research.
  • Influence business and vendor partners to maximize and leverage the available knowledge base
  • Lead and coach a team of strategy insights/research professionals and vendor partners to drive best In class customer Insights and retail measurement into the business processes; improve business performance, reduce business decision risk and reach the objectives of the 3 year strategic plan.

You should apply if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in business. consumer behavior, market research or quantitative discipline (MBA preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, market research, or strategy
  • Knowledge of children's entertainment and toy manufacturing businesses preferred
  • Skilled at influencing, generating consensus and negotiating at the executive level
  • Experience leading, coaching and managing a team. Emphasis on encouraging a consultative style of business partnering within the team when supporting internal clients across the organization
  • Deep experience in utilizing new digital techniques and methodologies to understand changing consumers including social listening and digital testing
  • Experience with managing and executing within the perimeters of a budget
  • Experience both on client and supplier side of consumer insights preferred
  • Experience includes complex. strategic research projects and using Innovative methodologies
  • Experience with multivariate statistics, predictive modeling, regression models
