The Job:

The Senior Package Designer is responsible for developing retail packaging that is structurally sound and effectively tells the brand and product story while adhering to brand standards. In addition, the Packaging Designer will create layouts for presentations, catalogs and sell sheets. This position reports to the Packaging Director and works closely with other members of the design team as well as the marketing and product development teams.  

  • Design and execute packaging and collateral materials in keeping with the brand position 
  • Partner with marketing, product development and other designers to meet the package requirements set forth by marketing 
  • Conceptualize and create printed materials (selling materials, point-of-purchase materials, product displays) and other custom artwork and deliver design solutions for multiple projects running simultaneously. 
  • Works independently, requires minimal supervision.  
  • Clearly demonstrates a solid understanding of the brands and the competitive environment as it relates to on shelf /retail space.  
  • Has excellent problem solving skills.  
  • Consistently maintains a positive attitude and is considered a good role model.  
  • Partner with Creative Management and Brand Management to set direction for new brands and individual items. 
  • Develop marketing support materials, creative boards and layout presentations for new and existing business development presentations, trade shows and new initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with Structural Engineering, Marketing, Quality Control and Product Development teams as well as overseas agents, as necessary, in the product development and approval process.  
  • Develop package comps for retail sales presentations  
  • Regularly juggle tight deadlines and changing priorities 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Job Requirements

What we can expect from you:

  • Expert level skills in Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac Platform 
  • Knowledge of visual design principals: graphic design, layout, typography, color, icon & logo development, branding, messaging 
  • Ability to produce impressive design solutions that communicate brand initiatives and objectives clearly 
  • Print production savvy

  • Proven ability to work in a high volume, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment. 
  • Someone with the ability to work under stress and meet deadlines 
  • An individual with the ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions 
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions 
  • Ability to travel if required performing the essential job functions 
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 25 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions 

 

You should apply if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or Design required 
  • 6+ years of previous packaging design experience and strong sense of consumer goods design 
  • Experience with licensed properties a plus
