The Job:

The Market Analyst will be responsible for generating business insights and guiding strategic actions in order to drive an ambitious best in class agenda.  S/he will be responsible for developing sales trendline, oversee global forecasts, and evaluate the effectiveness of Marketing/Trade & Retailer campaigns based on ROI.  This role develops concrete recommendations around how to improve promotional campaign effectiveness and profitability, e.g., through real-time feedback loops (i.e. pre-launch and while campaigns are running), and provides post-mortem evaluations of promotional effectiveness.

The individual will work on developing predictive analytics including targeting, modeling, segmentation and algorithm development.  The purpose of this role is to lead and develop our ability to add value to our business via the utilization of all available data sources and recommended solutions to business issues through fact based analysis.  The individual will be expected to provide recommendations on the right data sources and tools to provide sound analysis and insights.  Current third party data consists of information from NPD, EuroMonitor, Walmart (Retail Link), Amazon Vendor Central, SalesForce.com, Google Trends/Analytics, other retailer POS etc. 

What we can expect from you:

  • The focus is insight generation, ROI assessment and recommended solutions to business issues through fact based analysis.
  • Develop and present authoritative reports based on the evaluation and interpretation of data  in the assigned area
  • Contribute knowledge and thought leadership to strategic planning and business processes
  • Provide internal analytical support to groups that leverage analytics data for a variety of purposes
  • Lead data insights & KPI development for all sales and marketing related analytics
  • Evaluate new tools for the data visualization/BI space
  • Evaluate what’s happening at retail: the state of the business, competitive trends all while considering the priorities and concerns of our retail partners
  • Work with internal partners to identify where the business is going: market projections, forecast oversight (Consensus, S&OP Meetings), In-market-testing, demographic trends, acquisition support, licensing evaluation & budget support.

Job Requirements

  • 7 - 10 years' experience working with data and utilizing quantitative techniques such as R/Python to solve marketing or business problems, such as campaign analysis, program optimization, customer segmentation and predictive modeling.  (CPG or Retail)
  • Knowledge of the CPG and Retail space along with understanding category management, marketing and product management principles.
  • Candidate must possess at least an undergraduate degree in: finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, actuarial science. Preferred: Graduate degree in: financial engineering, computational or mathematical finance, computer science, statistics or related field. Strong background in machine learning, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, statistics, or probability at the graduate school level or higher, as well as experience creating predictive analytics on noisy data
  • Preferred experience with SAP (BI), Retail Link, NPD, EuroMonitor, SalesForce.com & statistical modelling software (R, Python)
  • Knowledge and use of data visualization tools such as: Tableau, Tibco Spot Fire, etc.
  • Working knowledge of marketing mathematical tools and methods, marketing test and learn plans, ROI development and data mining/multivariate analysis
  • Ability to conduct regression modelling techniques, projection based analytics and other statistical based methods regarding marketing mix and ROI analysis
  • MS Excel expertise – logical functions, lookups, pivot tables, external source data, dynamic charts and tables, editing and writing macros
  • Function autonomously, be a self- directed and self-motivated, dynamic, decisive and confident practitioner with strong analytical skills.
