The Job:

The function of the Manager is to oversee operation of retail merchandising operations within assigned territories or regions. The Manager is tasked with ensuring the various project initiatives are running smoothly and that involved employees are meeting performance goals. Individual Supervisors, Team Leads and Merchandising reps are interviewed and hired by the Manager. This position typically reports in to Director of the department

Managers are strong Operation leaders with a thorough understanding of retail merchandising and people management. They possess strong analytical skills and are effective problem solvers. Managers hire, train and develop their management teams. Other responsibilities include establishing appropriate performance metrics, and ensuring effective field to office communication, while managing the territory's performance.

The Manager will work closely with their Supervisors and Team Leads and communicate regularly regarding reporting/administration and tracking performance metrics to goals.

What we can expect from you:

  • Team Management Accountabilities (not all inclusive)
    • Proven history of merchandising management experience, preferably multi-team member experience. Managers must have the ability to analyze financial reports. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills also a must.
  • Principal Duties
    • Oversees all territory programs and directs the work of personnel to ensure
    • annual and long-range goals are being met.
    • Reviews and updates the department policies, procedures, and process standards to improve field performance
    • Assesses the need for increased/decreased coverage within the territory in cooperation with departmental growth initiatives.
    • Works with Office management team to develop and administer territory’s annual
    • Keeps Office management team informed of issues within the territory and provides action plan for improvement. Compiles background information to facilitate the decision-making process.
    • Prepares and compiles performance metric materials for weekly/monthly/quarterly Management meetings,
    • Develops assigned territory annual goal setting plan, long range plan and field metrics
  • Performance Management for Team Members
    • Works with all direct reports in setting KPI’s
    • Ensures that staff meet KPI Objectives
    • Tracks performance throughout year
    • Effectively trains and develops Supervisory and Team Lead staff
    • Responsible for on-going development to ensure team members are meeting/exceeding departmental key performance indicators (store visits, product pulls, features set, direct to store ordering, administration/communication)
    • Implements (creates/develops) performance management program and uses appropriate metrics to evaluate performance.
    • Evaluates quality of staff on an ongoing basis, and makes actionable plans and decisions.
    • Recognizes need to upgrade quality of staff
    • Build strong working relationships with Retail Contacts
    • Builds rapport with retail contacts
    • Is able to leverage relationships to benefit Spin Master, including expanding in-store presence of Spin Master product, and strong promotional compliancy.
  • Product Knowledge & Industry Competency
    • Has a practical and applied knowledge of all Spin Master Product
    • Continuously educates self on competitive toys/children's products, environment, including key manufactures, products and retail trends.
    • Continues to develop a stronger understanding of Retailer Standards and Operational practices and communicates how they can benefit the department/company.
