The Job:

The Spin Master Archives requires the help of a Digital Archivist to meet the increasing archival needs of Spin Master’s digital products. In addition, the Digital Archivist will serve as a key team member in The Spin Master Archives, supporting other responsibilities such archives development, service requests and maintenance of cultural assets.

The Spin Master Archives is responsible for managing a large amount of assets globally from diverse brands operating in the digital spaces of mobile apps / games; online videos; and entertainment IP. In addition to this, Spin Masters’ new King St headquarters will serve staff through exceptional resources for learning about and engaging with Spin Master’s products and business channels. These include an interactive videowall; historical displays; toy research library; and access to marketplace research.

What we can expect from you:

Digital Archives

Acting in collaboration with the Spin Master Archivist: 

  1. Research viable digital platforms to ensure the preservation of vital assets developed by our entertainment and digital app groups.
  2. Maintain and regularly inventory Digital PR assets requested on a weekly basis by creative groups include creative content, GBUs and other teams.

Spin Master Physical Archives

  1. Assist in building and maintaining Spin Master’s extensive physical archives including archival assets of global acquired companies.


  1. Responsible for the organization and scheduling of assets on the central interactive video wall located in Reception, using the Content Management System (CMS) to manage requests. 
  1. Handle ongoing requests from internal stakeholders regarding the videowall, acting as the primary liaison for:
    1. managing on-screen content;
    2. training staff on the use of the video wall,
    3. liaising with the IT department to troubleshoot technical issues;
    4. handle requests from the PR team to display social feed content on the videowall using a custom CMS tool. 
  1. Assist other teams as necessary during events where the screen may be used for special presentations.

History Wall and King Street Office Physical Displays: 


Acting in collaboration with the Spin Master Archivist: 

  1. Help manage the day to day content and maintenance needs of the Spin Master History Wall and physical displays.
  2. Be responsible for daily maintenance checks to ensure displays are damage free; that all video experiences are playing; that interactive props are responding to visitors; and that lighting elements are in working order.
  3. Assist in maintenance or service of any hands-on creative assets including but not limited to the take-away Spin Master history brochure for visitors; and toy or play experiences included in the displays.
  4. Liaising with external fabrication vendor to facilitate repair and service requests.
  5. When necessary, be available to lead tours for groups of visitors, representing the history, milestones and values of Spin Master.

Toy Library:

 Acting in collaboration with the Spin Master Archivist: 

  1. Assist in managing and maintaining library assets including books, magazines, toys, iPads.
  2. Assist with daily maintenance checks to ensure assets are in order for staff and visitors, including replacing any broken, damaged or missing items.
  3. When necessary, assist in responding to staff requests for signing out archive items or library assets.
  4. When necessary, assist in following up with overdue research materials that may have been borrowed by internal teams.
  5. When necessary, be available to lead tours. 


Competitive Product Research and Management


Acting in collaboration with the Spin Master Archivist:

  1. Research, track inventories and manage in-house resources dedicated to marketplace research.


Job Requirements

Who’s a good fit for this team:

  • A flexibile individual who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with desire to participate actively in problem-solving.
  • Someone who eats their Wheaties--this role requires the ability to lift and carry at least 40lbs related to storing and managing archival materials.
  • A curious individual who loves history, artifacts, and continuous education and learning

You should apply if you have the following: 

  • 3-5 years previous experience as an archivist, preferably in a related industry or corporate setting.  
  • Formal education or significant related experience in archives or record management, information management or related studies.
  • Demonstrate clear knowledge of cataloging systems and/or tools for archival preservation.
  • Demonstrate clear knowledge of archival standards and compliance-related practices.
  • Computer software skills (including MS Office Suite and archival system software) and a high comfort level cataloging and working with digital media formats including but not limited to photos, videos and digital design files.
  • Experience handling confidential and/or sensitive corporate materials.
  • Experience storing, maintaining and preserving physical artifacts including delicate or climate-sensitive products and other materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams across our Global Business Units.
