The Job:

The Designer is responsible for motivating and mentoring the team to consistently produce innovative, on-target, on time results. The person in this role has excellent communication skills, a proven track record of success and is considered to be a good role model for peers and subordinates and a brand ambassador for the company. The ideal candidate must be extremely creative with an understanding of toy design. Must have the ability to bring new and creative products to life from concept through to prototype development. Designer will need to be innovative with an understanding of the consumer demographics.

What we can expect from you:

  • Oversee the development of multiple products at the same time
  • Participate in product & line strategy development
  • Participate in new product brainstorming & presenting multiple options for each new toy
  • Staying current on market and competitive trends
  • Concept Development for existing brands and new areas of expansion
  • Convey initial concepts through design sketches & renderings as well as creation of rough breadboard models
  • Manage the design process from start to finish with emphasis on feasibility, schedule, costs & safety
  • Work closely with Marketing along with LA and Asia Product Development
  • Present toy ideas and models to the executive level of the organization

Job Requirements

  • Someone with a proven ability to work in a high volume, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment
  • A resourceful, self-starter, who knows how to get things done independently; this person will manage his/her own slate
  • A resilient and adaptable personality as plans can change from day to day
  • An organized individual who is deadline driven and can prioritize 

You should apply if you have the following:

  • 3-5+ years’ experience as a Toy Designer is required
  • Undergraduate degree in Product Design (BFA), Industrial Design, Product Design or equivalent
  • Proven ideation skills, brainstorming, concept rendering, sketching and computer skills, (Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D software) are essential
  • Knowledge of Toys including Figures, Role Play, Plush, and Playset design & manufacturing is necessary
  • Experience with developing toys for and from Entertainment properties is a plus
