Job Description:

The role:

This role is responsible for the product commercialization and the development of marketing plans and campaigns that drive growth of one of the top brands in Spin Master’s portfolio.  You are someone who demonstrates the passion required to champion new product launches, brand building and best in class marketing. You are a creative out of the box thinker with a solid understanding of the entire marketing process.  You have a strong track record of winning the hearts and minds of consumers through omni-channel marketing campaigns.  You are expected to be the champion of the brand(s) you lead for our Global Business Unit and inspire cross-functional team members & partners with your passion and excitement. You will leverage your technical marketing skills through on-going execution of product development/commercialization, business/brand planning, retailer marketing, sponsorship & experiential/event marketing activation and business analysis.

What can we expect from you:

  • Lead all activities related to planning & execution of brand plans for your brand. Including (but not limited to): licensing, promotions, advertising, media production, sponsorship, event activation, packaging, branding, trade shows, market research, pricing, costing, profitability analysis, and SKU rationalization
  • Plan and build strong marketing campaigns to support your product/brand(s)
  • On-going management of the brand P&L including forecasting and tracking of sales and marketing spending within assigned budget
  • Development of insight-based brand scorecards and reports as measured against KPIs and POS/sales analysis on a regular basis
  • Assist in managing projects related to product development activities including (but not limited to): preparing new product start documents, product costing, turn over transmittals, packaging and product and marketing briefs
  • Work with the Procurement team to negotiate pricing, profitability and Vendor Cost Approval management and manage internal competitive pricing
  • Administer the critical path analysis process, ensuring all time lines are adhered to, all details are properly recorded, and that all parties are informed of relevant information where required
  • Liaise with internal departments (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Sales, Planning, internal marketing centers of excellence) as well as with outside partners (vendors, licensors, inventors, marketing agencies) both nationally and internationally at all stages of product development to ensure the smooth running of all projects under your care
  • Liaise with our licensing team as needed
  • Regularly audit and understand the competitive landscape and lifestyle/skate culture trends to generate consumer/buyer engagement, drive sales, identify new whitespace opportunities and digital/social strategies/plans
  • Ongoing monitoring and reporting of consumer, competitor and brand activity with analysis and recommendations
  • Proactive improvement of plans that contribute to the brand’s success

Who’s a good fit for this role:

  • Creative thinker with a good understanding of the marketing mix/consumer touch points including, TV, digital, social media & customer/retailer marketing, PR
  • Experience in launching new products
  • Strong influencing & presentation skills
  • Financial acumen and P&L experience/knowledge
  • Direct experience with the full product development cycle, with a track record of thriving in a growth oriented and changing environment
  • Strategic thinker able to identify long-term opportunities and trends
  • Experience managing multiple projects at once in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience in dealing with overseas development and manufacturing facilities
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Comfortable in cross-functional/collaborative cultures & working with external agency partners
  • Passionate about creative excellence and willing to drive self and others to achieve “magic”

You should apply if you have the following:

  • University or College degree in Marketing, Commerce, or related field
  • 3-5 years of consumer product brand/marketing management experience in a new product-oriented industry, preferably working with toy, entertainment, sports, pop culture products and or lifestyle brands
